My
work attempts to express the contrasts and contradictions of the human condition
in abstract, sculptural terms. I am inspired by organic and man-made matrices
and use this to articulate the presence of structure and freedom, and order
and chaos in life. I find the fine line between strength and fragility intriguing.
I also incorporate historical reproduction ceramic artefacts in to the structures
I make, which for me represent the reframing of past experiences. I construct
the forms using strips or coils of clay and sometimes integrate mixed media.
Much of my work is glazed with engobes or low fire glazes.
