.Martha Stahlkopf
In my clay work I try to find a language that expresses the fragility, pain, loneliness and longing that I feel inside myself. There is a lot of insecurity and vulnerability that stem from many internal struggles of opposing emotions and needs.
I see my figures as a means of expressing my personal interior world, my invisible me. Restraint, repression, solitude are as much present as the need/want to break free from them and from a self-constructed inner wall that hinders progression.
This figure is about 30 cm tall, is made with porcelain, crushed stones, chunk of brick and nychrome wire; it has been fired to 1200 C, oxidation.
