My
figurative work is a subject that I have always enjoyed and it allows me
to express my feelings and myself. The movement of the body is something
I have had a lot of experience with as I had trained as a gymnast for a
big part of my life. I loved the exhilaration and excitement that it gave
me, tumbling across the floor with so much power, energy and lively movement.
I am expressing this in my work through sequences of figures in motion,
using bright colours and stripes to follow the form and intensify the movement.

Walkover
Here I am showing the movement of a walkover, which is continued with the
colourful stripes and patterns that take you through the motion of the figure
in an exciting and lively way.

Colour
Artists Niki de Saint Phalle and Jun Kaneko have both influenced my use
of colour. I am using my colours in great contrast to create a vivid, exciting
and fun feel to the movement of the body and how I felt in gymnastics.
