JACQUELINE EVAN-
ARTIST STATEMENT
Clay is an irresistible material. I love its malleability and enjoy making things with it, but it is the textures and forms that appear just to happen which truly excite me; those spontaneous disordered qualities that emerge when the clay is manipulated. It is these qualities I attempt to capture in my work, enticing one back for another look,
My work arises directly from my relationship with clay. It represents a dialogue; a conversation of action and reaction during which I respond to and endeavour to enhance the natural characteristics and images that emerge as I seek to capture these moments of energy in time.
