ARTIST STATEMENT

suspended in a moment

like you’ve been shopping in crowded narrow
streets or underground then you turn
down an alley and suddenly it
opens into a wide expanse
and the top of your
head opens
up

The boom, a tardis, this thing has a presence that’s so much
bigger than what it is. The ringing vacuum that’s left after the final chord
in the auditorium, the hollow space in the listener - a thought gathers in the bottom of your stomach and fills an in-breath. The object isn’t important.
What’s important is what the object has experienced - a hug,
a squish, a boom-squish. When you freeze time every light keeps
shining, every silence pulses and every mark carries on. The movement
is forever being written.

standing on tip-toes
poised for action
like on the blocks
in relaxed tension

listening
waiting
being

it’s like forever.
